12/12/12 Concert for Sandy Relief Fundraiser

In honor of the work that the Robin Hood Foundation has done to help those affected by Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy, Moose Manor Hand Paints will be donating 20% of all sales in our Etsy shop through 6am tomorrow morning to this wonderful foundation.  We’ve even listed more yarn in the Etsy shop to support this.

And Lily would be really, really happy if you bought one of these skeins…

Seriously, though, thank you for your support!!!

Update–MMHP Sandy Relief Fundraiser Update

I’ve decided to continue running this past weekend’s Sandy Relief Fundraiser through the end of November!  Not only will this give me time to photograph more yarn for the shop (yes, I am bad about that), but it will also allow me to mix up the charitable giving a bit by giving me the opportunity to focus on another worthy charity or two.

So… watch check back in the Etsy shop later this week to see what’s new!

Sandy Relief Fundraiser

Great South Bay from the Babylon docks (pre-Sandy)

Here at Moose Manor South (our studio and winter home base on Long Island), we’re in the process of recouperating and catching up with real life following the fall fiber shows.  However, in the aftermath of Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy, we needed to do something to help our community.

So from now through Sunday night (November 11th), Moose Manor will be donating 20% of the purchase price of every listing in our Etsy shop to a very local-to-us charity–the Babylon Rotary Club’s Sandy Relief Fundraiser.

Right now we have some Superwash Sock skeins listed, but more yarns will be available tonight as well as throughout the weekend.

We here at Moose Manor South made it through both Sandy and the nor’easter relatively unscathed.  Help us to help so many of our neighbors who weren’t so fortunate.  Thank you!

Although the leaves have barely begun to change here on Long Island, there’s no denying that fall is definitely here…

Happy first Friday of summer!

One more time…

Well, it’s been quite a month on the fiber festival circuit. Lisa and I committed to doing four–yes, that’s FOUR–consecutive weekends of vending at fiber festivals around the northeast this month. This weekend is the last festival, Mass. Sheep and Woolcraft.  Our inventory levels are a little low, but I just finished dyeing and steaming a few more pieces for the weekend.

So I’m just finishing a glass of wine before I go get 4 hours sleep–that’s plenty of rest for the ride north, right?

If you’re in western Mass this weekend, consider visiting us at the Cummington Fair Grounds. Look for the Art for your Feet tent.

Hope to see you soon!

This Just In…

OK, yes, I’ve been a very baaaaaad blogger.  But in my defense, it’s been because I’ve been dyeing like a madwoman for all of the May fiber festivals that I’ve been going to with the Tsock Tsarina.  And where she goes to vend, I go to vend.  And this afternoon Lisa told me that she received word that she’s been accepted as a vendor at…

SPA 2013!

Freeport, Maine, February 1-3.  Vendors will be set up at the Hilton Garden Inn I’ll post more information as I have it, but I’m really looking forward to this one!

Everyday Inspiration

One of the great things about the New York City Subway System (besides getting around the city quickly) is the art that you’ll find in many of the city’s stations.

Along the J/Z line there are a number of stained glass installations. Here’s a couple from the Kosciuszko Street station

Very pretty, yes?  I just adore the blues and purples with the touches of pale green in this one…

What kinds of public art installations inspire you?
